It has excellent resistance to all-purpose corrosion, crevice corrosion andpitting in chemicals, encompassing sulfuric and chlorides, nitric and phosphoric acids.

Alloy 20 Blind Raise Face Flanges is most frequently specified in environments ranging from mildly oxidizing through neutral, and in moderately reducing conditions. As with commercially pure nickel, Alloy 20 Weld Neck Raised Face Flanges is low in strength in the annealed condition. Carpenter 20 Flanges (UNS N08020) is well suited to the production of gasoline, solvents, explosives, inorganic and organic chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food, and synthetic materials. The alloy is stabilized with columbium to minimize carbide precipitation during welding. Alloy 20 can be welded with minimal carbide precipitation due to the inclusion of columbium.
